I believe that this is a good area to investigate for the rest of the semester because it is a secluded natural environment, it will help me practice using the scientific method just as any other ecosystem would, and it will give you an opportunity to synthesize the ecological and evolutionary concepts I’ve learned about during this semester. *edit* This ecosystem (the whole trail) is very interesting; I have seen an abnormal variety of flora from cacti, and pine trees, to palm trees, and lichen. This is all up high in the mountains, so encountering things like cacti and palm trees was quite unexpected. *edit I recently came upon a dead mongoose in the middle of the trail, I'm fatal-disease-phobic, and the mongoose looked like it had a crazy hole through it's neck from maybe a rat or an owl... so I kinda just took a picture and went home.
